Great Firebreathing Dragon.

I wanted to make this amigurumi dragon years ago when I first saw it but never really got to it. It kept appearing here and there until last weekend (long 4-day weekend here with Midsummers Eve/national Victory Day and Midsummers Day). I just really wanted to make something but couldn’t come up with anything and decided it was time for this fine fellow. I am a Dragon myself after all. 😉

IMG_8047Last time I was in a yarn store to pick up some additional yarn for a project (probably next post) I also spotted a couple other adorable skeins that I grabbed. The label says Katia DegradĂ© “Sun” and it’s 100% Egyptian Cotton. I picked up colours no 75 (this one) and 77 (for future).

I was hoping for a nice ombre effect on it but as you can see it didn’t happen. Here I have you a picture of him posing on the what’s left of the skein. I pulled the end out from the middle and it turned out that it had mostly yellow in there. There’s more of it left in there but I think if I’d make another one it might already show some green in it.

IMG_8061Never the less I still think he turned up lovely! ^_^ Sometimes things just don’t go as planned which definitely doesn’t mean it’s bad. I added the pieces of green felt as the colour was still in my vision and I think it worked. Even the cheeks are green as my pink felt was a bit too hot-pink. I like the green.

The hook was again my 1.75 mm and the stuffing is polyester. The horn’s were tricky as I had trouble making two about the same size. In fact I did the front left one three times.

I just finished it this morning so he was a little too late to light up the Midsummers Eve bonfires but he can do it next year, can practice the firebreathing until then. 😉
