Giraffe Gaffer.

Here is so far the last amigurumi I have finished. There has been a pause as it has been so extremely hot in here, that I just don’t want to hold any kind of fibres in my hands. Yesterday afternoon it rained a bit longer and it didn’t go back to hot as fast either so it has been a nice break from the heat. Today is also a nice ‘cooler’ weather with only 22 degrees Celsius or so. I might grab my hook tonight but we’ll see what the evening brings to us. One night I was out late and at 2 am it was +24 degrees Celsius. It was the nicest weather I had been in ages, a little breeze and no extreme sun but nicely warm regarding it was in the middle of the night. I really enjoyed my bike ride I was having.

As of the topic. Here is a giraffe. I named him after Gaffer Gamgee, Sam’s father. This was the second animal I was suggested to make (fist one was Monkey Boo), this time by my older brother. To tell the truth – they were the only ones as well, that’s why I decided to make them both.

I choose an organic cotton yarn (don’t have the label any more and I couldn’t find it from the webpage of the shop where I bought it either, sorry) that had, in my opinion, a giraffe-y tone to it. It also solved the problem of spots to me as it already created kind of a pattern. Not exactly like a real giraffe would have but it’s not actually a real one either. 😉

The pattern is again my own. I started from the legs, first crocheted three and then with the last one I gathered them all together so I wouldn’t have to sew them on later. Also the neck is crocheted in one piece with the body. I used Schachenmayr Catania mercerized cotton for the hoofs and tips of horns and the muzzle is of Rosarios 4 Butterfly organic cotton yarn. Eyes are 6 mm safety eyes and the hook I used was again the 1.75 mm Clover Amour. I have had a little trouble putting safety eyes on while using finer yarns. Does anyone know if there would be some with smaller/thinner back bolts?

PS! Excuse me for the lousy quality of the photos, they were taken alongside with the hats therefore practically in the dark.

Minnes teema juurde, siin on kaelkirjak.

PS! Vabandan kehva pildikvaliteedi eest.
